At Genesis, our philosophy is simple – bring to life the sorts of bikes we enjoy riding. Luckily for us a good fair few of your share our thought path!
We’re not the biggest out there but our size does afford us to take a few risks; namely to push through bikes that bigger companies might deem to fringe or oddball to ever grace their range. If we enjoy riding it and think there’ll be enough folks out there that will too, then its fair game in our eyes! We’re sticklers for detail, going to the nth degree to try and wring out every last bit of performance whilst keeping things accessible.
Materials snobs we are not, and, depending on what’s best for given bike and intended usage you’ll find carbon, Titanium, steel and Aluminium all used across the range to good effect.
Most of our bikes will have ‘built-in’ practicalities (we’re not one to pigeonhole a bikes usage) that will enable you to use them daily across many different scenarios. Design and technology working in perfect harmony in a thoroughly thought through, practical package.
From the beginning, Ridley has been at the forefront of bicycle aerodynamics. Before it was a fad, we developed and patented a series of FAST technologies setting the benchmark for what an ‘aero road bike’ should be.
‘Aero’ is more than just tear dropped tubes. Every Noah FAST is an integration of components and other technologies that minimize the rider’s effort of cutting through the wind (no matter where it is coming from) and the drag associated with parts interacting with the frame. Not just theoretical wind tunnel numbers but actual real world results.
The Fenix SL is a thoroughbred racer in an endurance disguise. We took all the best of our Fenix, Helium SL and Noah SL, and put it into the Fenix SL. The stiff and aerodynamic headtube, combined with the strong bottom bracket and the light and narrow seatstays do not only make it look sexy, they make it fast as well. We could only just get some of the Lotto Soudal riders to give their bikes back after they were done testing the Fenix SL.
Lighter is better right? Yes and no. Yes, it is better if it can transfer your power efficiently to the road. No, if all that effort you take trying to move the bike forward simply goes up in flexing the frame back and forth. The Helium range is a non-compromising solution for the rider who demands the lightest weight from his bicycle yet still wants the bike to stay stiff and resilient under his feet. At fewer than 750 grams (in size M), the Helium SL is still stiff enough to take all the stomping our sprinting ace, André Greipel, has to offer, yet light enough to float over the highest mountain passes with ease.
Ridley supports women’s competitive cycling. Not just for the promotional opportunities it presents, but also because of the valuable feedback these athletes provide to make the product better. We combine this input with the research of experts in bike fitting and ergonomics to establish the best, most natural position for a woman on a bike. At a first glance the geometry of a women’s bike does not appear to be very different from a man’s bike. But the devil is in the details, details incorporated in every Liz bicycle.
It’s a healthy activity cycling. An efficient and accessible way to get around, it offers a unique freedom that other means of transport just can’t match. At Ridgeback we continue to focus on all things cycling, offering and wide and varied range of bikes. Whether it’s an early morning solo commute to work, or a casual weekend ride with family and friends, Ridgeback has it covered.
2017 is a year of evolution for Ridgeback. We have made a few subtle changes to some existing models to improve them further, but also added a few new models to sit at key price points.
The biggest news for this year is the addition of our debut E-Bike series, Electron. Comprising of two models based around the same frame design, Electron utilises Shimano’s state of the art STePS system. Combining a short charge time and a long battery life, STePS is a highly reliable system and a perfect match for Ridgeback. Offering smooth pedal assistance up to a speed of 25km/h, Electron is perfect for a wide range of cycling and an even wider range of users. This really is the future of cycling.
Dual Track, our off-road series, has also seen a few changes for the new season. The brighter colour ways are and obvious change, but there is also a new frame platform for MX3 and MX4. Keeping on trend, these two models now feature a 27.5" wheel on sizes 17" and upward, whilst keeping a 26" wheel on the smaller sizes and making it an easy transition for younger riders moving up from a kid’s bike.
The lightweight children’s Dimension series was a big hit for 2016. It sees new options added in 16" and 26" wheel, but also two runner bikes in 12" and 14" wheel. Dimension is perfect for younger cyclists that ride more frequently.
Whatever your riding style, we’re sure you’ll find a Ridgeback that is right for you. Once you’ve found the bike that matches your needs, find your nearest stockist at ridgeback.co.uk then go along and test it for yourself.
